Job Description/Responsibilities

A Cafe & Bistro located in Kingston, Jamaica is seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join their team. The ideal candidate will handle transactions, manage customer payments, and ensure a smooth and pleasant customer experience. In addition to cashier duties, you will assist with various front-of-house tasks to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service: Warmly greet customers and provide exceptional service. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Assist customers with menu selections and special requests. Cash Handling: Accurately process transactions using the POS system. Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other forms of payment. Issue receipts, refunds, and change accurately. Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts. Order Processing: Accurately and efficiently take customer orders. Communicate orders to kitchen staff and ensure timely delivery. Correctly package take-out orders and check for accuracy. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the cashier station clean and organized. Ensure the dining area is tidy and presentable. Assist in clearing and resetting tables as needed. Additional Duties: Assist with opening and closing procedures. Monitor and restock supplies such as napkins, utensils, and condiments. Support other team members to ensure smooth restaurant operations.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role (preferred). Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively. High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to handle repetitive motions, such as operating a cash register.
