Job Description/Responsibilities
Catalonia Hotel in Montego Bay is seeking an experienced and creative Executive Chef to lead their culinary team. General Job Description: As the Executive Chef, you will: • Ensure strict compliance with the company’s processes, quality standards, and hygiene objectives. • Develop and manage the hotel’s gastronomic offerings, including technical sheets and cost breakdowns for menus. • Train staff in menu preparation and ensure consistent adherence to established menus. • Monitor food quality, variety, and presentation to meet customer satisfaction. • Oversee product requests, storage, rotation, and kitchen inventories to maintain high standards. • Supervise food orders, kitchen tools, and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and usage. • Collaborate with management to propose and adhere to the department’s budget. • Innovate and modernize the hotel’s culinary offerings, staying updated on the latest trends in gastronomy. • Lead and manage kitchen staff, delegating to the Sous Chef when necessary. • Ensure your team maintains the company’s image and hygiene standards. • Handle hiring, terminations, promotions, scheduling, and other employee matters in coordination with Human Resources. • Foster a positive work environment, effective communication, and teamwork within the kitchen. • Perform other tasks to support the overall objectives of the hotel.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience Required: • Training in gastronomy. • Minimum 5 years in a similar position. • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. • Experience in the hotel sector, especially in Jamaica/Caribbean, will be highly valued.
