Job Description/Responsibilities

Are you passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in a fast-paced hotel environment? Catalonia Hotel in Montego Bay is seeking a Chief Steward to lead their team in ensuring compliance with company processes, quality standards, and hygiene audits. General Job Description: As the Chief Steward, you will: • Ensure compliance with company hygiene standards and meet hygiene audit objectives. • Oversee daily shift changes, reporting pending tasks to the incoming team. • Constantly examine kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, reporting issues to the Executive Chef/Sous Chef. • Train stewards on the safe handling and cleaning of machinery and chemical products. • Provide ongoing training and motivation to your department’s staff. • Supervise the setup and decoration of the buffet, ensuring the tableware storage area is organized. • Maintain sanitation and recycling compliance in waste areas. • Follow and enforce the general cleaning plan. • Monitor and control supply and chemical consumption. • Manage hiring, terminations, promotions, scheduling, and employee-related matters in coordination with your supervisor. • Perform other related tasks as needed to support the hotel's objectives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Required: • High school diploma and/or technical course in industrial hygiene and safety. • 1-3 years in a similar position. • Accredited experience in the hotel sector, especially in Jamaica/Caribbean, is highly valued. Key Skills: • Positive attitude and strong leadership abilities. • Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills. • Proactive and self-directed with strong decision-making capabilities. • Team player with excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills. • Passionate, creative, and innovative in your approach to work. Residence in Montego Bay or surrounding areas is a plus.
